Summary
The aim of this training scheme is to develop learners’ English language skills at a level at which they can communicate effectively and appropriately in real life situations relevant to a New Zealand high school context. The course also prepares students to be confident and accurate users in all four areas of English language. Self-correction should be almost a natural reflex and they should be able to keep up and contribute equally to a conversation with three or more native speakers. They should be able to manage the same type of reading material as senior secondary school students and publications and websites in English will not present any problems for them. At the end of the course they will have acquired the skills required to: • Have an English language proficiency level equivalent to CEFR Mid B2. • Enrol in NZCEL L4 (General), (Employment) or (Academic). • Enrol in a NZ high school in year 11, 12 or 13. Note: Kiwi College of New Zealand has pathway arrangements with selected top-quality high schools in New Zealand. Graduates will be able to enrol in these schools directly. Entry requirements: • Minimum 14 years or older • Demonstrated English proficiency for entry to a certificate at level 3 using one of the evidence types listed in Rule 18 of the NZQF Programme Approval and Accreditation Rules 2018, or • Passed Kiwi English (Intermediate) (Training Scheme) (Level 3) or • Passed Kiwi College placement test.
