There are two variations to the Postgraduate Certificate in Commerce:

  • The On Campus Postgraduate Certificate in Commerce creates access to all the postgraduate courses from both our Master of Commerce (Agricultural) and the Master of Commerce and Management. You are able to choose a flexible study programme under an overall theme such as Business Management, Economics, Finance, Marketing, or Supply Chain Management/Logistics. It can also be used as pathway if you wish to pursue a Master of Management in Agribusiness or a Master of Management in Agricultural Systems
  • The Postgraduate Certificate in Commerce (Online) can be used as a pathway if you wish to pursue a Master of Business (Global Management and Marketing) or Master of Business (Finance).

Programme Structure

This is normally a single semester, full-time study qualification. You're required to achieve 60 credits from the schedule of courses, from the relevant master's degree.

First study semester online

  • COMM 601 - Principles of Managerial Economics
  • COMM 602 - Principles of Accounting and Finance
  • COMM 603 - Principles of Business Management
  • COMM 604 - Principles of Marketing
  • COMM 605 - Research for Managers

The Postgraduate Certificate in Commerce (Online) is a fully prescribed programme of study with five courses and no electives. Students may start the Postgraduate Certificate in Commerce (Online) at multiple points though the year.

Entry criteria

Completion of a relevant New Zealand level 7 bachelor’s degree or recognised equivalent with a B- average or better in the 300 level and final year (full-time equivalent) courses

English Language Requirements

  • IELTS academic score of 6.5 overall, with no individual component less than 6.0
  • TOEFL (iBT) overall score of 80 (with at least 21 in writing and 18 in Speaking)
  • Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) and First (FCE) overall score of 176, with no individual component less than 169
  • Pearson Test of English (Academic) overall score of 58 with no communicative score of less than 50
  • Lincoln University English Language GCAE or LU EL 70%.
  • NZ Certificates in English Language (NZCEL) - Level 5 (Academic or Professional Endorsement)
