Summary

Gain the skills and knowledge you need to apply for your Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW).

This Maritime Crewing programme caters for qualified deck and engine room crew wishing to advance to able seafarer roles.

As a graduate of this qualification you will carry out crewing duties within your strand specialty area at a support level to engineers.

Entry criteria

Students must have equivalent entry to New Zealand NCEA Level 1 or 2. Entry requirements vary from country to country.

English language requirements:

  • IELTS: Academic score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5.0
  • TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT) - Score of 46 (with a writing score of 14)
  • Cambridge English Examinations - B2 First or B2 First for schools with a score of 162. No less than 154 in each skill
  • Pearson Test of English (Academic) - PTE (Academic) score of 42 with no band score lower than 36
