Develop the knowledge and skills involved in disaster risk reduction, and response to and recovery from emergencies and disaster in as little as six months.
This programme is suitable if you're considering a career in the emergency and disaster management field or are already working in the field and would like to gain a tertiary level qualification to complement your work experience.
It is regularly reviewed to align with current research, practice and policies in emergency and disaster management. We see ourselves as playing a significant role in building community resilience to disaster through delivering an innovative and quality teaching and research programme to both New Zealand and international students.
The topics you explore include disaster risk reduction, disaster resilience, communication in emergencies and disasters, response to and recovery from emergencies and disaster in as little as six months.
Central to the philosophy of this programme is reducing risk to communities where possible, improving health and the psychosocial impact of emergency situations on individuals, and enhancing recovery processes.
Most papers are offered via flexible learning, which involves online, block course or distance learning.
Completed one of the following; or equivalent:
English Language Requirements:
IELTS (Academic) 6.5 overall with all bands 6.0 or higher; or equivalent; TOEFL iBT score of 90; Certificate in English for Academic Study (CertEAS) with A grade; GIE with B+ grade; CAE minimum overall score of 176; PTE minimum overall score of 58.
