English for Academic and General Purposes - High School Preparation strand

Summary

This strand is targeted at students wishing to prepare for entry into a NZ High School. This strand focuses on preparation for high school and will typically include the additional strand of Language into Mathematics, Science and Social Studies as well as a practical component of activities including Art, Craft, Cooking and Sport. These are woven into the course through the topics described for each level. Programme Structure: Caters for all ESL levels - especially Beginner, Elementary, Pre-Intermediate and Intermediate and offers a strong foundation for the NZ education system. The morning programme has an English Language focus. The afternoon programme has a subject language focus for Mathematics, Science and Social Studies. There is a half-day activity once per week. Possible Criteria: Open to all. Placement level determined by prior learning, placement test, interview and needs analysis. Intake: Any Monday
