This diploma-level programme is designed to give students with an interest in local or international tourism, the skills they need to create exciting, and entrepreneurial guided visitor experiences anywhere in the world.
Tourism and travel is about exploration and experiences, and one of the highlights of this programme are the field trips for students to experience tourism and hospitality centres around New Zealand.
An integral part of the programme is the work experience component, where students can experience what it’s like to work in a customer facing environment, and directly apply their knowledge gained in class.
Students of the programme will learn how to manage workplace practices required of a tourism organisation and incorporate the indigenous values of manaakitanga and whanaungatanga in travel and tourism practices.
Graduates will be able to analyse and evaluate local, national, and international tourism operating environments, systems, and processes in order to support decision-making, deliver a quality visitor experience, and contribute to overall business effectiveness.
