Summary

Develop the skills and understanding needed to provide massage and support clients to improve their wellness.

Learn about anatomy and physiology, relaxation and therapeutic massage, stress management and wellness promotion methods. Graduates may operate their own massage therapy business, or may find employment within the spa industry. Alternatively, you can progress into the second year of our Bachelor of Applied Science where you can further your studies in massage and health, expand your skill set into rehabilitation (remedial) massage and increase your employment options.

Entry criteria

NCEA Level 2 (or equivalent) and for applicants aged 20 years or over there are no minimum academic requirements.
Applications from mature students (over 20) are welcome. International students will be individually assessed to ensure you are ready for this study.

For health and safety reasons, you must declare any health conditions and hold a current first aid certificate (or be prepared to work towards one during your programme of study).

IELTS test: General or Academic score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5; TOEFL paper based test (PBT): Score of 530 (with an essay score of 4.5 TWE); TOEFL internet based test (IBT): Score of 46 (with a writing score of 14); Cambridge english examinations: B2 First or B2 First for schools with a score of 162. No less than 154 in each skill; Pearson test of english (ACADEMIC): PTE (Academic) score of 42 with no band score lower than 36; Language Certificate: B2 Communicator IESOL (LRWS) with PASS and no less than Pass in each skill.
