Start your career as a Makeup Artist! This 16 Week course will provide you with all the skills and technical know-how to assess a client’s skin and apply a range of makeup looks. You’ll graduate prepared for a job with a top cosmetic house, to work as an entry level makeup artist or with the skills to pathway into our Level 4 Certificate.

Build your brand as a makeup artist, with hands-on training in looks from day to night, photographic to corrective, special occasion to artistry effects. Adapt and evolve your own signature looks by practicing on yourself and your classmates. You’ll graduate with a portfolio of work to wow prospective clients.

Course Content

Perfect the art of providing a skin consultation and advise a client on a range of different cosmetics.

It’s all about eyes and brows right now. Learn how to make them pop like a pro.

Transform a client into a blushing bride, give a client a natural “no makeup” look or transform them with a dramatic night look.

You are your most important asset. Learn to sell yourself with networking and communication skills, and sales techniques.

Career Opportunities

You will have the skills to prepare skin for makeup application, create a range of makeup services, and create total looks for different medias including fashion photographic and fashion catwalk work.

Once you have graduated you can seek employment as a makeup artist in the following industries:

  • Bridal and special occasion makeup

  • Cosmetic consultancy

Entry criteria

Entry is open to beginners and all applicants are considered however you must:

Demonstrate proficient use and understanding of spoken and written English.
Have NCEA Level 1 (Year 11).

International students must have a minimum of IELTS 5.5 with a minimum of 5. in writing (within the last two years).
