Global Pathways to New Zealand: The International Year One (IYOne) is a credit-bearing qualification that enables you to study the first year of an undergraduate degree at an NCUK Study Centre and upon successful completion, enter the second year of a wide range of degree courses at NCUK Universities. Students benefit from smaller classes, allowing thorough academic preparation and support to ensure a smooth transition into university study.
Students entering the NCUK International Year One in Engineering (IYOne Engineering) qualification must meet NCUK’s entry requirements. Please use the IYOne Engineering entry requirements to check the information for your country/qualifications.
For entry to the University, the University will award 120 points of credit (one year of credit) against the following degrees:
1. Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering for students who complete the NCUK IYOne Engineering in the Electrical & Electronic stream, passing all modules with an overall average of at least 50%.
2. Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering for students who complete the NCUK IYOne Engineering in the Mechanical & Manufacturing stream, passing all modules with an overall average of at least 50%. Students meeting these requirements may also apply for the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Mechatronics, where 105 credits would be awarded and students would need to complete the ENGEN103 Engineering Computing paper at the University of Waikato for the remaining 15 credits.
You will then need to complete a further 360 points (3 years of study) to be awarded your honours degree.
You can use an overall Grade C or higher in English for Academic Purposes (minimum Grade D in an individual component) to meet the university’s English language requirements.
