The objective of this programme is develop highly effective advanced project managers and leaders.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT?

Graduates of the programme will achieve advanced professional project manager levels in theory and practice and be capable of managing and leading projects for a business or organisation informed by business, education, psychology, social science, research and professional project manager practice standards.

Programme content includes study of: management context issues in New Zealand; business or social sectors, organisational learning facilitation, planning; quality facilitative management; governance, quality management practice from policies to practices; business studies; budgeting and finance; project management; advanced communication and team facilitation and cultural skills; advanced facilitative management capabilities; business or social sector productivity and sustainability, audit and evaluation studies; change management; evaluative research methods and literature; ethical, holistic safety, support and risk management; Hauora; Whare Tapa Rima; Socio-ecological; Sociocultural; quadruple bottom-line sustainability; continuous improvement orientation; professional reflective practice theoretical models underpin all papers support analytical, higher, associative, critical and evaluative thinking capabilities ensure advanced project management, problem solving graduate attributes are achieved and work ready.

Entry criteria

Learners must be at least 20 years of age in the year of study and hold as a minimum a Level 5 Diploma and 3 years’ related work experience, or Level 6 Diploma and two years’ related work experience; or, degree and one year of work experience; or, the applicant can demonstrate equivalent level 6 academic plus practical, professional or technical knowledge and skills in an entrance examination admission interview that would be held prior to confirmation of enrolment. All applicants will have a conversation to discuss their interest in this programme.

Learners who have English as a second language must achieve:

  • IELTS Academic score of 6.0 with no band score lower than 5.5 in a single test event or
  • TOEFL Paper-Based Test (pBT) Score of 550 (with an essay score of 5 TWE) or
  • TOEFL Internet-Based Test (iBT) Score of 60 (with a writing score of 18) or
  • Cambridge English Exams FCE or CAE with a score of 169. No less than 162 in each skill or
  • NZCEL Level 4 with academic endorsement or the equivalent.
