Summary

This degree is designed for those with a drive to succeed in business, with a practical focus, and a flexible structure. Students can choose from a range of majors and elective modules, and will gain a broad range of business skills, as well as specialist skills and work experience in their chosen major. Students will have the opportunity to undertake collaborative real-world projects with students from other disciplines, and with industry.

The practical focus of this degree increases the chances of employment when students graduate, and the small class sizes help to build strong one-on-one learning relationships with tutors.? The flexible structure allows students to choose from a range of majors and a wide variety of elective modules.

Major in Strategic Management

In their first year, students will complete the eight core modules required for the Applied Management degree. These modules will give students the important broad skills they'll need to excel in any area of business. During their second year students will take three modules for the Strategic Management major, choose three other modules toward a second major, and study two core modules – Applied Management and Research Methodology. In the third year students will study two more Strategic Management modules and two other modules towards a second major. Students will also apply their skill on work placement with a local business.

Entry criteria

  • Qualification equivalent to NCEA Level 3 or
  • Completed an appropriate overseas School qualification; or
  • Satisfied the criteria for entrance to a New Zealand University, or an equivalent qualification approved by the Programme Committee; or
  • Completed a year of study at an overseas Secondary School, and gained the equivalent of 60 credits at NCEA Level 2 across four subjects.

English Language Requirements

Candidates who have English as a second language are required to have an International English Language Test System (IELTS) score of 6.0, with no individual band score lower than 5.5; or

  • TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT) score of 60 (with a writing score of 18)
  • TOEFL Paper-based Test (pBT) score of 550 (with an essay score of 5 TWE)
  • Pearson Test of English (Academic) score of 50 with no band score lower than 42
