Creativity in new technology development can provide innovative and profitable opportunities for software and hardware solutions across a wide range of industries. In this major, you will be at the forefront of creating and developing new technology with exciting concepts and ideas across a range of platforms and applications.

You will gain and apply practical skills in software and hardware production with a view to developing innovative products for the screen and creative technology sector. You will gain an understanding of prototyping and testing systems and how to develop ideas through to producing final projects such as:

online distribution

lighting systems

game controllers

performance capture and virtual production

production workflow solutions

custom audio systems

interactive and kinetic set design

media exhibition.

Facilities

You'll have access to a broad range of custom-designed teaching and learning facilities, focussed on visual and audio technology development. These include studios, a motion capture stage, immersive technology lab, electronics labs, digital and physical fabrication spaces (3D printers, laser cutters etc), and high-end computer labs with industry-standard production, modelling, and CAD software.

All students must meet university entrance requirements to be admitted to the University.

There are no specific entry requirements for this qualification, outside of university admission regulations.

International English Language Requirements:

  • IELTS - 6.0 overall and minimum 5.5 in each band
  • TOEFL iBT - Overall score 80, minimum 19 in Writing
  • Cambridge English - B2 First, or B2 First for schools, or C1 Advanced, or C2 Proficiency with a score of 169. No less than 162 in each skill.
  • NCEL - Level 4 (Academic)
  • PTE - 50 overall and minimum 42 in each communicative skills
  • LanguageCert - C1 Expert IESOL (LRWS) with PASS and no less than Pass in each skill
