International Student Support

At Auckland Grammar School we recognise the unique needs of international students and provide support and guidance through a team of dedicated staff at the International Department.

Student well-being, happiness and academic progress are a priority and the focus is to assist students to meet their individual goals and aspirations, as well as aiding their transition into the New Zealand life, culture and norms.

In addition, the student buddy network provides an extra layer of ‘big brother’ support, which is also beneficial in enabling long-term friendships.

More about Auckland Grammar School

Quotes from International Students

“One of the most obvious differences that first caught my eye was how interactive all the classes were. From the beginning, for me, every class has been an intense 40-minute long discussion between teacher and students, where students get the opportunity to express their opinions freely on topics without being judged.”

“At Auckland Grammar School, the one thing that has struck me the most about this prestigious institution is that the focus here is much more on collaboration rather than competition. Hence, students are able to focus more on helping each another through debating, discussing and tutorials with the guidance of teachers, which makes the overall high school experience much more memorable. Consequently, students start to learn in a more confident way with the knowledge there is always someone available to help them, both teachers and peers.”

“From what I have observed, people in New Zealand are so friendly and polite that I may easily hear "thank you" and "sorry" over a dozen times everyday on my way to school. This is one of the most beautiful things about the culture and people here in the Kiwi- country.”
