Hillcrest High School welcomes and encourages students from overseas countries. We have an outstanding reputation for academic attainment, with many of our Year 13 students entering university both in New Zealand and overseas. The school has approximately 50 international students representing a range of nationalities from around the world.
We pride ourselves on providing an extensive range of curricular and extra curricular opportunities, combined with an effective pastoral care and guidance programme for our international students. We endeavour to place all students in appropriate courses based on individual needs, abilities and future aspirations. Specialist programmes are available for students requiring specific assistance with English.
Applications for a position in our school as an international student should be accompanied by academic results, their last school report (both translated) and a letter of introduction.
The International Department promotes a wide range of social, cultural and sporting activities in addition to the school's successful academic record. The annual International Camp, International Concert, 10 pin Bowling, Dinners and BBQ's plus other activities all encourage participation and enjoyment of school and community based activities. Peer tutors are available to provide individual support. A very supportive environment is provided with assistance available from the academic Deans, Career and Guidance Counsellors, Sports Director, International Director and our full time nurse.
