Long Bay College is a top-ranking school in a stunning, peaceful location near the beach on the North Shore of Auckland. It celebrates high academic achievement with top results, a high level of co-curricular involvement, a vibrant campus and a wonderful culture of care.

As a co-educational secondary school, Long Bay College provides a modern learning environment with spacious grounds surrounded by trees and playing fields. The school roll is just under 1600 students aged 13 to 18 years of age (11% of which are international students from many different countries).

Students consistently achieve well above national average in NCEA and in University Entrance. All of our teachers are highly qualified and passionate about providing the best possible education. EAP provides cutting-edge, relevant programmes for Internationals to improve their English language, study skills, and cultural knowledge. All students can choose from a wide range of academic and practical subjects, where they are motivated to work towards their own personal excellence.

We have a student-centred approach which engages students to learn. It provides our students with a positive, inclusive environment in which they can thrive. We offer excellent pathway advice, academic support, and leadership opportunities at all levels. We also encourage parents and community to maintain a high level of involvement, so they can understand the system better and also feel part of their children’s education in New Zealand.

We give a warm welcome to all our International students which extends beyond their time at Long Bay College. We pride ourselves in our connections with our former students, as they in turn offer mentor support to new students. Getting to know our students well is key to our approach. This enables us to provide a level of ongoing care and commitment that helps students feel at home, ready to experience what New Zealand has to offer.

Curriculum and subject highlights

Long Bay College has top NCEA results which are consistently higher than the national average for other similar schools in New Zealand. This is across all subjects, reflecting the school’s vision for all students to reach their personal excellence.

Our International students are also achieving high results in Scholarship exams, setting them amongst the highest performing students in New Zealand.

Some of our Internationals have also been awarded monetary scholarships to enter university, based on their outstanding academic performance whilst at Long Bay College.

Extra-curricular activities

We encourage every student to get involved in all aspects of school life, including International Festival, Athletics Day and our Community Gala.

For students wanting additional support with their studies, we offer an after-school Academy as well as IELTS preparation classes and Academic English programmes.
Long Bay College also has a long reputation for excellence in Performing Arts. Students  participate in many Dance, Drama, Music, Visual Arts events.
The College has a record of regional and national success in individual and team sports. Students can choose from a wide range of different sports at all levels, from basketball to water polo, rugby to dragonboating.
