St Patrick's College is a traditional boy's school, with a long and proud tradition of excellence in academic, sporting and cultural endeavours. As New Zealand's oldest Catholic boy's school, the College offers a Catholic and Marist education based on gospel values and spirituality.
The College is located in Kilbirnie, only 5 minutes from Wellington Airport, and 7 minutes from the central city. It has easy access to a wide range of civic, sporting and recreational facilities.
Homestay Families are carefully selected from within our community and work with the college to provide a homestay that offers a safe, supportive physical and emotional environment. The St Patrick’s International Students Co-ordinator selects and monitors homestay families for International Students and works closely with the Dean of International Students. All homestay families meet the requirements of the New Zealand Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students.
A homestay family will provide you with:
International Student Support
All international students are well supported by our International Department. The International Department consists of the International Student Manager, International Coordinator and an International Dean. The department is also fully supported by the ESOL department and Tutor Teachers. International Students are also supported by student buddies.
Student Welfare and Homestay St Patrick's offers excellent support and care to all its students so that they have an enjoyable and productive time at the College. The International Co-ordinator is responsible for the students' welfare. She liaises with the teachers, Assistant Rector, guidance and careers counsellors, and caregivers to provide a quality support for the students. All students are met at the airport by the International Co-ordinator. She continues to meet regularly with each student to give guidance and to help them adjust to living with a local family.
