Villa Maria College was established in 1918 by the Sisters of Mercy as a Catholic school for girls and is committed to the education and empowerment of young women. It has a long history and students gain a sense of belonging to a very important community. Values are important.
Villa Maria College is set in 4.5 hectares of landscaped grounds and has excellent teaching, sporting and information technology facilities.Kia Toa building was opened in 2017 and offers the latest in ergonomically designed teaching technology. The College has three fully equipped computer suites, a Library Information Resource Centre and a modern auditorium and music suite. Outdoors incorporates six multi-purpose courts for tennis, netball and hockey along with sports fields and a swimming pool.
International Student Support
We provide extensive ‘wrap-around’ support for our international students starting with our trained and caring Villa Buddie and including: home stay manager; International Dean; teachers have received training in CQ (Cultural Intelligence); school Counsellors; Peer Suppor leaderst; AKO House groups; ESL teacher; and home stay families.
There are over 30 sports to choose from at Villa! Our Music Department offers a selection of itinerant music teachers; orchestra; jazz band; rock band; and three choral groups. Students can also join Kapa Haka and Pasifika cultural groups.
