More about Wentworth College / Primary

  • Academic Success - Over 95% of our students gain University Entrance and Cambridge qualifications are widely recognised by the world’s best universities and employers.  Our students go on to study at top Universities in New Zealand, USA, Australia, Europe and Asia.
  • Cambridge International Examinations – Wentworth College offers the Cambridge Assessment International Education Qualifications.  Cambridge examinations are one of the most academic, internationally recognized qualifications allowing students to successfully gain entry to leading universities all over the world.
  • Wide Choice of Subjects - Cambridge offers an unrivalled choice of subjects and we have a wide range of IGCSE and at A Level subjects.  College subjects include Maths, English Literature, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Economics, Business Studies, Computer Science, Marines Studies, French, Spanish, Mandarin, History, Geography, Physical Education, Psychology and Drama, Global Perspectives, Art & Design, Painting, Photography, Design and Technology, Food Technology and Fabrics.
  • Small Classroom Sizes - Small classroom sizes allow our teachers to get to know your child’s goals and aspirations individually. At Wentworth College our junior classes are around 22 students and in the senior school they seldom exceed 15 students with usually less than 10 students in A2 classes. These small class numbers allow us to closely support individuals to make sure they reach their full potential.
  • ESOL -  Our ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) programme continues to successfully support International Students in their English language development. Most of our International Students attend an ESOL lesson every day, in addition to their English lessons and for the remainder of their timetable, they are in mainstream classes doing their subject options. Students arriving with little English soon become proficient, and the extra support and attention in these lessons enable better integration in to mainstream classes.
  • Our Location - Situated at the end of the beautiful Whangaparaoa Peninsula, just 35 minutes north of Auckland, Wentworth College and Primary School is located in a truly beautiful part of New Zealand.   The community is extremely safe and residents enjoy a high standard of living.  We have 23 beaches, 2 beautiful golf courses, a stunning regional park and marine reserve on our doorstep.
  • Homestay Family -  We are extremely fortunate that we have some wonderful homestay families near to the school. Many of the homestay families have been hosting International Students for many years, and provide our students with a loving and stable home environment.
  • Education Outside the Classroom - Students can participate in many activities, including outdoor education camps, the Duke of Edinburgh awards, learn to sail programmes, tramping, camping, beach clean ups and overseas trips, to widen their knowledge of New Zealand and the beautiful things this country has to offer.
  • Golf Scholarships - Wentworth College’s close proximity to Gulf Harbour Country Club, one of NZ’s top golf courses, means that we attract many international students on Golf Scholarships.
  • Sports - Students are actively encouraged to participate in sports and can choose from sailing, rowing, hockey, netball, football, basketball, golf, gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, badminton, rugby, air pistol shooting, tennis, cross country running, snow sports, surf lifesaving & many more.
  • Music and Arts - Whilst music is studied in school by all, we also have a strong itinerant music programme so that individual students can further develop their performance skills in a variety of instruments.  We also have Orchestra, Irish band, Ballet, Pilates, Yoga, Music Festivals and Performance Arts.
