Summary
Western Heights is the largest High School in Rotorua. Rotorua is the Maori cultural Heart of New Zealand. Rotorua is also the major tourist destination in the North Island of New Zealand. Rotorua is situated in a Geothermal wonderland of boiling mud and erupting geysers. Adventure Tourism and a spirit of fun underscores most of the many activities offered in Rotorua city.
Our strength is our whanaungatanga (family), the core of our school culture, embracing all staff, students both domestic and international, and their families.
Western Heights High School is a proud provider of secondary education, recognized as the “School of Choice” for local students and offering an international student programme providing a unique experience enjoyed by students from around the world.
Western Heights High School is a state, coeducational school with a student body of 1550, offering an education from Year 9 to Year 13. Our students are predominantly of European and Maori descent although we have many cultures and ethnicities represented within our student body.
We welcome all cultures, all people, each adding their own distinctive touch to our school.
