Do you already have a degree or extensive business or technical experience and would like to step up into a management role, or would like to advance your existing qualification? If so, this programme could be a great fit for you.

As you work through your study you will quickly develop the ability to evaluate and analyse business information. You will also learn how to identify, implement and promote strategic decision making that is innovative and focused on adding value to your organisation.

Upon graduating you will be armed to:

  • Gather and use business information to inform strategic decision making and support the delivery of related projects in line with organisational objectives.
  • Apply advanced management principles and concepts to creatively address management issues in a range of organisational contexts.
Entry requirements

Academic requirements 

Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree.

Alternative requirements

Applicants who are unable to evidence that they meet Academic Entry Requirements, but who can demonstrateacquired skills for tertiary study gained through study, work and/or life experience, may be approved for alternate entry. English language requirements

If English is not the applicant’s first language, applicants will need to provide a result from a test or qualification on the acceptable alternatives English Proficiency Outcomes Table(external link):

  • IELTS 6.0 Academic (no lower than 5.5 in each band),

Applicants who do not have evidence of English language skills and are a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident may contact NMIT for an assessment.

IELTS 6.0 Academic (no lower than 5.5 in any subtest) IELTS scores used must be taken from a single IELTS Test Report Form and are valid for two years from the date of the test. Note: Applicants who have achieved NCEA Level 3 University Entrance requirements are not required to provide evidence of English language skills.

Classes and study hours

This programme is run on the NMIT Semester model, with semesters running for seventeen weeks. Four courses per semester are considered full-time study.

Programme structure 
  • 40 hours per week of full-time study including four two-hour classes on-Campus
  • Study part-time blended, or fully online 
  • It is expected that self-directed learning will be around 10hrs per week, per course  
Key features

Learning takes place through one-on-one or group coaching (blended or online) 

This may include:

  • Skills workshops
  • Mini-lectures
  • Presentations and/or tutorials on topics relevant for completing the tasks
  • Active and experiential learning approaches integrate theory and practice
  • Each course is activity and task-based, which may include case studies, projects, scenarios, field trips, and/or simulated work
Learning tools

You will need to have access to a computer and the internet.

Course material will be made available online through Moodle, our education online platform. Meetings, theory classes, and assignments may be carried out online via Microsoft Teams.
