The Bachelor of Broadcasting Communications (Screen Production) combines two years of immersive, on-campus learning with a third year spent working in the industry.
Our highly practical approach will teach you key skills, roles, equipment, and software through the different stages of screen production. You’ll also develop your ability to collaborate professionally - whether filming on location, broadcasting live from our multi-camera studio, or cutting a project in the editing booth.
You’ll create a wide range of screen productions, including narrative short films, music videos, news stories, documentaries and live broadcast television. We’ll prepare you for entry into the screen industry with professional competencies matched to industry standards. The programme is kept relevant and cutting edge through continuous feedback from the industry.
Your career connections will be advanced with a 24-week paid industry placement in a broadcast media or screen production company. When you graduate from the New Zealand Broadcasting School you’ll be able to meet the needs of the industry from your very first day on the job.
Our graduates are in demand - 90% of them secure employment in roles related to their field of study (Source: 2024 Ara Graduate Outcome Survey).
