Summary

Is there anything more rewarding than walking into a room full of smiling people and knowing that you are part of the reason why?  

There is an increasing demand for support workers in the health care industry, and this course will equip you with the practical skills and prepare you for employment as an Advanced Health care support worker. 

In this course, you will learn how to provide care to people with complex needs in health care facilities or in their homes. 

You'll also gain real world industry experience and complete 200 hours at a health care provider as part of your training.

Entry criteria

  • Have an acceptable New Zealand Police vet before entry to the programme. If the programme begins before the report has been received from the New Zealand Police, students may begin the programme but must be informed that they may not attend any practical experience at a health care provider until an acceptable New Zealand Police vet has been received by NZMA.
  • And a New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Support work) (Level 3) or one year relevant work experience in a Healthcare setting and demonstrate the ability to achieve the academic aspects of the programme.
