Our Postgraduate Diploma in Paediatrics (PGDipPaed) is a professional qualification for doctors and nurse practitioners. The programme will equip you with the latest evidence-based paediatric knowledge for application in clinical settings. In particular you will develop the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required in addressing common and urgent clinical presentations in paediatrics. The PGDipPaed will help you to draw on disciplinary knowledge to improve your current practices. You will consider ways in which you can make paediatric health more equitable for Māori and Pacific communities. You will work in an interdisciplinary setting with other health professionals.
Doctor Pathway: a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) or equivalently recognised international degree, and hold current registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand or as a Medical Practitioner in your home country. You must also have at least one year of relevant professional work experience.
Nurse Practitioner Pathway: a Bachelor of Nursing or Master of Nursing Science (or equivalently recognised international degree), and hold current registration as a registered nurse in New Zealand, or with an overseas nursing regulatory body. You must have either completed, or be enrolled in, a Nursing Council of New Zealand accredited Nurse Practitioner Masters degree programme.
You may also be eligible for this programme if you have passed 60 points in the Postgraduate Certificate in Paediatrics, if the certificate has not yet been awarded.
For either pathway, there is no specific GPA/GPE requirement to be considered for entry into the Postgraduate Diploma in Paediatrics.
