Summary

Programme highlights

Roll up your sleeves and become a qualified carpenter with this three-year managed apprenticeship.

This qualification is designed for people who are employed in the construction industry. You will learn all the required aspects of the carpentry trade and the knowledge you need to succeed in this industry.

Highlights of the New Zealand Certificate in Carpentry (Level 4):

  • Obtain your qualification in just three years – a year earlier than many similar programmes. This will allow you to progress more quickly from a training wage to a qualified wage, which is a significant increase.
  • Receive unparalleled support with weekly touch points throughout the school term. You’ll receive face-to-face support from lecturers during one evening class per week. You’ll also receive a minimum of four site visits per year – more visits than offered by similar programmes.
  • Hone your skills in our workshop space. Our on-campus workshop space allows you to undertake additional practical tasks to hone your skills or attempt required skills you don’t have the opportunity to take part in at your current workplace.

To gain this qualification you will need to be employed in the construction industry with an employer who is willing to support you with regular work to meet the graduate outcomes of this qualification.

Study will take place one evening per week in class, while employers and tutors will verify your practical skills when you are at work.

You will be visited on-site throughout the programme.

Please note: Aspects of this programme are physically demanding, please talk with an Ask Me! agent if you face fitness or mobility challenges. A small component of this programme is delivered by a sub-contractor.
