Summary

Nelson English Centre is a leading New Zealand English school. Our skilled, internationally experienced teachers are experts in helping you learn English quickly. Nelson, in the South Island offers the perfect balance of a lively seaside town, and access to beautiful nature.

Nelson is the sunniest city in New Zealand. New Zealanders (kiwis) rate Nelson as a top city for lifestyle, education and seaside activities. It is a community with heart and a sense of arts, music and fun. Walking, tramping, mountain biking and Tahuna Beach are easy to reach from the city centre. People are friendly and talk to you. You will quickly feel comfortable here and make friends with like-minded students.

Student life at NEC is different to other schools. The student zone is specially designed so that you cross paths with teachers, staff and students from other countries. Ninety percent of our weekly school activities are taken by NEC staff. This frequent social interaction between staff and students gives the school a community feeling. Our student and agent feedback frequently ranks NEC number #1 for speaking English only in the student room. This means you can learn English faster while you have great conversations.

Nelson English Centre is one of only two IALC* schools in New Zealand. This means we have highly qualified teachers, a top academic management system and high standards of student care. We have very high percentage of permanent staff with the DELTA teaching compared to other schools. This means you will have a professional, well-organised and enjoyable classroom experience. Of the provincial schools in New Zealand NEC has the most candidates passing FCE and CAE Cambridge exams each year.
