Course Information
Reading Level 3 A (15 Credits) - This course aims to enable students to read, understand and provide a response to a range of texts on reasonably familiar topics.
Writing Level 3 A (15 Credits) - This course aims to enable students to write comprehensible connected texts for familiar and predictable purposes (book reviews, letters) with reasonable linguistic accuracy relevant to the applied context.
Listening Level 3 A (15 Credits) - This course aims to enable students to understand the main points and key supporting detail in extended oral interaction (conversations, interviews) on a range of familiar topics and reasonably familiar situations.
Speaking Level 3 A (15 Credits) - This course aims to enable students to speak with some coherence, fluency and confidence to exchange personal information and opinions on familiar topics.
The English language requirement for entry into the New Zealand Certificate in English Language (Level 3) (Applied) is the New Zealand Certificate in English Language (Level 3) (General) or equivalent skills such as IELTS 5.0; NZCEL: Level 3 (General). A diagnostic test to identify your level may be used. IELTS scores used must be taken from a single IELTS Test Report Form (i.e. combining scores from more than one test is not permissible).
English language Requirement: IELTS - General or Academic: Score of 5.0 with no band lower than 5; TOEFL (iBT) - Score of 35 (with a writing score of 14); Cambridge English Qualifications - B2 with score of 154; no less than 154 in each skill; OET - Minimum Grade C or 200 in all subtests; NZCEL - Level 3 (General); and Pearson Test of English (Academic) - Score of 36 with no band less than 36.
