Summary

The Master of Business is a research master’s degree that can be completed in just 18 months. You'll develop your understanding in a specialist field of business and learn to conduct research with the potential to make an impact on industry and society.

You undertake specialist or interdisciplinary research relevant to your interests, under the guidance of expert research academics in a supportive community for your advanced learning and development. Graduates of the Master of Business are also well placed for further study in the PhD programme.

Research an area of your interest and advance your knowledge of contemporary marketing issues with the Marketing specialisation in the Master of Business.

Research is fundamental to studying marketing at the postgraduate level. As a Master of Business in Marketing student you'll learn from research-active and widely published academic staff. Our staff are internationally recognised as experts in marketing, particularly in consumer behaviour, marketing strategy and social marketing issues, and bring their cutting-edge research into the classes they teach.

AUT's Marketing department also hosts regular research seminars and international visitors. Our close ties with industry mean that as a postgraduate marketing student, you can access industry data and are aware of the issues facing modern businesses.

To graduate with a Master of Business in Marketing, you must successfully complete 180 points from:

  • Specialisation courses
  • Research methods courses
  • Research OR Research and electives

Entry criteria

Completed one of the following or equivalent with a B grade average or higher in all relevant prerequisite papers in the selected subject area:

  • Bachelor of Business OR
  • Graduate Diploma in Business

Admission to the Master of Business is subject to approval by the Dean (or representative).

English Language Requirements:

IELTS (Academic) 6.5 overall with a minimum score of 6.0 in each band; TOEFL iBT score of 90; Certificate in English for Academic Study (CertEAS) with A grade; AUT Academic English with B+ grade; CAE minimum overall score of 176; PTE minimum overall score of 58.
