Summary

With the Postgraduate Certificate in Education you develop advanced knowledge of education in as little as one semester.

The Postgraduate Certificate in Education is a flexible, short programme that develops advanced knowledge, critical evaluation and communication skills and applies them to problems of education policy and practice. It provides a pathway to further postgraduate study in the Master of Education. You can choose from specialised or general papers.

This is not an initial teacher education programme and will not lead to registration with the Teaching Council of New Zealand.

This postgraduate education qualification enhances the academic, research and professional expertise of graduates in the educational work sector.

This includes:

This qualification does not provide eligibility for provisional teacher registration.

Entry criteria

One of the following, or equivalent:

  • Bachelor of Education [Specialty] Teaching; or
  • Graduate Diploma in [Specialty] Education

English Language Requirements:

IELTS (Academic) 6.5 overall with 7.0 in Writing and all other bands 6.0 or higher; or equivalent; TOEFL iBT score of 90; Certificate in English for Academic Study (CertEAS) with A grade; GIE with B+ grade; CAE minimum overall score of 176; PTE minimum overall score of 58.
