The Postgraduate Certificate in Engineering caters for professional engineers seeking advanced technical training or students looking for a one-year advanced qualification.

The certificate can be awarded unendorsed or endorsed in one of the disciplines:

  • Fire Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering

Subject to meeting degree requirements, graduates can also transfer to a Master of Engineering.

The PGCertEng is made up of a combination of 400 and 600-level courses, with specific combinations to meet the requirements of the endorsements.

Entry criteria

Students must normally have a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours or Bachelor of Science with Honours degree in relevant subjects, or in exceptional cases have qualified for the award of another appropriate qualification.

Applicants must also satisfy our English language entry requirements:

  • IELTS (Academic): Minimum overall score of 6.5, with a minimum of 6.0 in reading, writing, listening and speaking.
  • TOEFL (IBT): Minimum overall score of 90, with a minimum score of 19 in Reading, Listening and Writing.
  • PTE (Pearson Test of English - Academic): Overall score of 58 and no communicative skills score below 50.
