About the programmeCharge up your knowledge of Electric Vehicles (EV) with this advanced automotive technician programme. You'll gain the skills and knowledge to diagnose and repair faults in battery electric and hybrid electric vehicles and machines.
This programme is designed for experienced automotive engineering technicians who want to work in an advanced technical role, specialising in electric vehicles. You'll study online and complete block courses either at the Dunedin Campus or in your workplace.
Graduates will be able to work in a range of workplaces that involve advanced diagnostic and repair of electric vehicle faults.
Entry criteria
Academic requirementsYou must hold an Automotive Engineering qualification at Level 4 OR provide evidence that you have equivalent skills and knowledge.
International equivalenceTo enter Otago Polytechnic's undergraduate certificates, diplomas and degrees, you need to have achieved a secondary school qualification that is equivalent to New Zealand's NCEA levels (National Certificate of Educational Achievement).

English Language requirementsIf English is not your first language, you must provide: New Zealand University Entrance OR Overall Academic IELTS 5.5 (academic, no band score lower than 5.0) achieved in one test completed in the last two years, OR Acceptable alternative evidence of the required IELTS (see here for internationally recognised proficiency tests and proficiency outcomes for international students).
