Summary

The Master of Applied Management is designed for both management professionals and recent graduates, whether domestic or international, who seek to pursue advanced studies. This programme aims to prepare participants for further education or to help them secure more senior roles.

SIT now offers this course in a HyFlex (Hybrid-Flexible) format, blending face-to-face and online learning.

The Master of Applied Management is aimed at management practitioners and recent graduates (domestic and international), wishing to undertake an advanced programme of study in order to prepare for further study or to assist with obtaining a more senior position. Public and private sector organisations employing graduates of the Master of Applied Management will benefit from the advanced knowledge and capabilities (including analytical, managerial and research) that the graduates have acquired during their programme of study.

Entry requirements

To apply for the Master of Applied Management, you’ll need:

  • A relevant bachelor’s degree, graduate diploma, postgraduate certificate or postgraduate diploma
  • A minimum B grade average at Level 7 or above

Recognition of Prior Learning

If you have completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Business Enterprise, you may be able to receive credits towards the Master of Applied Management if you achieved:

  • B- or above for your dissertation, and
  • B- or above in the specified papers

You’ll need to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) when you apply for the programme.

Special admission

Mature-aged applicants may be considered if they can demonstrate their ability to succeed in the programme through relevant previous study or work experience that meets the required standard for entry.

You may also be able to enrol in selected courses provisionally. After successfully completing these, you can apply for special admission or admission through the mature entry pathway.

English language requirements

If English is not your first language, you’ll need to provide evidence of your English language ability.

Accepted options include previous study completed in English or an approved English language test.

Common test requirements include:

  • IELTS Academic: 6.5 overall, with no band below 6.0
  • TOEFL iBT: 79, with a writing score of 21
  • TOEFL pBT: 590, with TWE 5.5
  • PTE Academic: 58, with no band below 50
  • Cambridge English: C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency, score 176, with no skill below 169
  • OET: Grade C+ or 300 in all sub-tests
  • NZCEL: Academic or Professional Level 5
  • LanguageCert: C1 Expert International ESOL Written (LRW) High Pass, or C2 Mastery International ESOL Written (LRW) Pass, with at least 25/50 in each skill and Spoken (S) Pass
  • Trinity ISE: ISE III, with at least a Pass in each band

Other recognised evidence of English proficiency may also be accepted. Test scores must be achieved in a single test within the two years before enrolment.
