The Master of Public Health (MPH) is a professionally focused postgraduate degree that equips you with the knowledge and practical skills to improve population health and address public health challenges in Aotearoa New Zealand, and globally.
With a strong applied component—either through a work-integrated practicum or a research-based project— this master's degree programme equips you to be work-ready and able to critically apply your skills to real-world public health issues.
UC's MPH degree is grounded in equity, community engagement, and culturally responsive practice. It integrates Te Tiriti o Waitangi across its curriculum and prepares you to contribute meaningfully to the public health workforce.
Course SubjectsTo apply to the Master of Public Health, you need to have a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in an area relevant to public health eg, health sciences, psychology, data science, geography, politics, sociology, etc. You will also need to have at least a B Grade Average in your 300-level courses.
If English is not your first language, you are also required to meet UC's Postgraduate language requirements. See how to provide your English language evidence to UC. If you need help meeting these requirements, or would like to practise your English skills before studying, UC offers English for Academic Purposes (EAP) language programmes.
