Summary
Filmmaking and content creation through Virtual Production allows incredible innovation using real-time technologies to seamlessly integrate digital and traditional production methods.
The Postgraduate Diploma of Virtual Production (PGDipVirProd) extends your capabilities in storytelling, technical design, and virtual production pipelines, culminating in a portfolio of short-form creative outputs and a production-ready concept.
What will my study involve?- Gain practical skills suitable for advanced virtual production or related screen contexts, including technical fundamentals, visual setups, real-time workflows, and platform-aware concept development.
- Be career ready with experience developing a full production-ready scene or short film, including writing, through test cases such as simulated travel, branded content, or music videos, using real-time tools in a collaborative studio setting.
- Learn from academic staff with internationally recognised experience in film, games, animation, and virtual production; and work in close association with Kōawa Studios, UC’s purpose-built digital screen production facility. This includes a fully equipped virtual production stage with LED volume, real-time rendering workstations, motion capture systems, and high-quality film and sound equipment.

Entry criteria
To apply to the PGDipVirProd, you will need to have one of the following:
- a bachelor's degree in a relevant subject, with at least a B grade average in your 300-level courses
- a bachelor's degree in any subject, plus relevant professional or work experience
- a Postgraduate Certificate in Virtual Production with at least a B grade average
- other qualifications of an equivalent standard.
