Duration and workload
You can study the MAppLing, PGDipAppLing, or PGCertAppLing full time or part time, and you can start in any trimester—February, July, or November.
If you’re studying the PGDipAppLing full time, you’ll study eight courses over two trimesters. If you’re studying the PGCertAppLing full time, you’ll study four courses over one trimester.
Full-time students can expect a workload of around 40 hours a week. Part-time students will need to do around 20 hours of work a week. Make sure you take this into account if you are working.
You can estimate your workload by adding up the number of points you’ll be doing. One point is roughly equal to 10 to 12 hours of work.
Bachelor’s degree with at least a B average in a relevant subject and two years of related professional experience.
Proof of English proficiency
To be accepted into this programme you will need one of the following:
IELTS (Academic): minimum overall score of 6.5 with no sub-score below 6.0
TOEFL: minimum score of 90 for the internet-based test with a minimum of 20 in writing
Pearson Test of English: minimum score of 58 (with a ‘Communicative’ score of not less than 50)
EAP: minimum final scores of 4,4,5,5
