Enhance your ability to analyse complex geopolitical issues. Study a one-year specialist International Relations programme and take your career global.

You can choose to study the taught courses only and get a PGDipIR. If you later complete the research courses, you receive your MIR in place of the PGDipIR.

Programme requirements

For this programme you’ll need to:

Complete 120 points

Include four taught courses:

  • Approaches to International Relations (INTP 586)
  • Two courses from INTP 400-489

One further course from:

  • INTP 400-488
  • POLS 400-488
  • STRA 530-539

Entry criteria

To be accepted into this programme you will need to meet:

An appropriate Bachelor's degree

To be accepted by the programme director as capable of proceeding with the proposed course of study

Proof of English proficiency

To be accepted into this programme you will need to meet one of the following:

IELTS: minimum overall score of 6.5 with no sub-score below 6.0

TOEFL: minimum score of 90 for the internet-based test with a minimum of 20 in writing

Pearson Test of English: minimum score of 58 (with a ‘Communicative’ score of not less than 50)

EPP: minimum final scores of 4,4,5,5
