Summary

The Bachelor of Environmental Management with Honours will grow your capabilities and leadership potential in identifying and addressing environmental problems here in Aotearoa-New Zealand and elsewhere in the world.

This is a one-year qualification where you’ll learn how societies design social, economic, legal and ethical institutions to take better care of the natural environment. Through your study, you’ll be able to distinguish between environmental management principles, tools and methods, and be able to apply them appropriately across a variety of scenarios.

Programme Structure

You'll complete one compulsory course and a dissertation at 600-level.

You'll also complete one course chosen from the list below, plus 2 elective courses from the Master's Degree courses offered across the university.

Compulsory courses

  • ERST 601 - Advanced Theory in Resource Studies

Choose a minimum of one of the following courses:

  • SOCI 601 - Social Science Research Methods (Quantitative)
  • SOCI 602 - Social Science Research Methods (Qualitative)

Entry criteria

An approved undergraduate degree with a minimum of B+ or higher in 300-level courses.

International qualifications

  • GCE ‘A’ Levels (taken in countries other than the UK) - A minimum of 3 results with at least 1 grade at Level C or above. (General Studies is not to be used as one of the results.)
  • Cambridge Pre-U - 3 principal subjects, a GPR and evidence of numeracy
  • Advanced Placement International Diploma (APID) - At least 4 subjects with grades 3 or higher
  • International Baccalaureate (IB) - The diploma must be completed with a minimum of 24 points

English Language Requirements

  • IELTS academic score of 6.0 overall, with no individual component less than 5.5
  • TOEFL (iBT) overall score of 60 (with at least 18 in writing)
  • Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) and First (FCE) overall score of 169, with no individual component less than 162
  • Pearson Test of English (Academic) overall score of 50 with no communicative skills score less than 42
  • Lincoln University English Language LU EL 65%.
  • NZ Certificates in English Language (NZCEL) - Level 4 (Academic Endorsement)
