Dive into the research
Topics include how language shapes identity, how language knowledge is structured in the lexicon, how theoretical accounts of language acquisition inform pedagogical practice, and how to assess competence in a second or additional language.

Programme requirements
Complete 60 points, including:
Quantitative Research in Applied Linguistics (LALS 540) or Qualitative Research in Applied Linguistics (LALS 541)
At least 45 further points from:
LALS 510–583 (See 'Choosing your courses' below)
To be accepted into this programme you'll need to have:
Proof of English proficiency
To be accepted into this programme you will need one of the following:
IELTS (Academic): minimum overall score of 6.5 with no sub-score below 6.0
TOEFL: minimum score of 90 for the internet-based test with a minimum of 20 in writing
Pearson Test of English: minimum score of 58 (with a ‘Communicative’ score of not less than 50)
EAP: minimum final scores of 4,4,5,5
Application deadlines: Trimester 1 - 1 Dec; Trimester 2 - 1 May and Trimester 3 - 1 Sep.
