Summary

Develop the skills needed to produce creative and effective outcomes using current digital technology.

Project options in digital photography, digital illustration, web design, moving image, animation and interactivity will allow you to develop real-world skills and a portfolio of work for application to higher level study.

After successfully completing this Certificate and/or the New Zealand Certificate in Arts and Design (Level 4) you will have the academic entry requirements to enable you to apply for the Bachelor of Design (Communication, Fashion or Product), Bachelor of Architectural Studies or Bachelor of Visual Arts; and have content for your portfolio.

You will study

Four x 15 credit courses

Creative Digital Skills : Develop skills in digital design and photography with practical applications to print and screen solutions

Creative Online Design: Developing an understanding of digital citizenship and how to develop an online practice. Managing and designing content for blogs, web design etc.

Animation and interactivity: Learn basic skills for creating animations and moving image

Symbolism and identity: A research project whereby students learn about symbol motifs and markings and the connection to cultural identity with a particular focus on iwi Maori cultural practice.

Entry criteria

Open entry.

International students will be individually assessed to ensure they have an acceptable level of secondary school achievement.

IELTS test: General or Academic score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5; TOEFL paper based test (PBT): Score of 530 (with an essay score of 4.5 TWE); TOEFL internet based test (IBT): Score of 46 (with a writing score of 14); Cambridge english qualifications: B2 First or B2 First for schools with a score of 162. No less than 154 in each skill; Pearson test of english (ACADEMIC): PTE (Academic) score of 42 with no band score lower than 36; Language Certificate: B2 Communicator IESOL (LRWS) with PASS and no less than Pass in each skill.

Other requirements: A portfolio or other evidence to demonstrate creative work. Applicants may also be required to attend an interview.
