Programme structure
A BCom with a double major is a three-year degree programme. You will be required to complete a minimum of 24 courses (360 points). In your first year, you will complete a new, integrated set of core courses, experiencing the multi-disciplinary environment that businesses operate in, and two further courses depending on the major(s) you are planning to take (Maximum of two courses from outside the BCom schedule).
A double major requires careful planning.
You will also be required to select two General Education papers – this is a distinctive feature of our University’s degree designed to broaden your education.
If you wish to major in Accounting you will need to enrol in ACCTG 102 in your first year.
If you wish to major in Economics you will need to enrol in ECON 152 in your first year.
If you wish to major in Finance you will need to enrol in ACCTG 102 and MATHS 108 (or 150 or 153) in your first year.
Management;
This area of study considers the roles of human and labour factors in organisations; management theory; policies and practices; and employment relations issues in New Zealand and internationally.
Subject overview
Your studies in Management will give you a broad understanding of organisational structure, design, ethics and culture; the critical issues that arise in people and process management; and employment law.
At undergraduate level you can study Management as a single major or as a double major alongside one of the other majors offered within the BCom. We recommend that you study Management as part of a double major combination, which will greatly enhance your career prospects.
You can also study towards the Bachelor of Commerce in Management as part of a conjoint degree programme in which you study for two degrees at once.

You need to have one of the following:
International Baccalaureate Diploma with a minimum total score of 24.
General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level. You must have completed a minimum of three A-Level subjects.
Cambridge International Examinations (CIE). You must have completed a minimum of three A-level subjects.
GCE ‘A’ Level requirements apply to ‘A’ Level qualifications examined by bodies such as AQA, OCR, Edexcel, WJEC, CCEA and Pearson Education Limited taken outside of New Zealand.
IELTS (Academic): Overall score of 6.0 and no bands below 5.5; Internet based TOEFL (iBT): Overall score of 80 and a written score of 21; Paper-based TOEFL: Overall score of 60 and a writing score of 21; Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE), Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE): Overall score of 169 and no bands below 162; Foundation Certificate in English for Academic Purposes (FCertEAP): Grade of C-; Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic: Overall score of 50 and no PTE Communicative score below 42; Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB): 80.
