Summary

Global Pathways to New Zealand:

Study Options: Students begin study in TESOL at ULIS and continue on to the Victoria University of Wellington Master of Arts (TESOL) (0.5 year + 1 year).

New Zealand Qualification

The Master of Arts (TESOL) programme provides pre-service and in-service teachers of second or foreign languages with in-depth knowledge and tools to advance their teaching skills. It explores a range of contemporary themes in language education. Teachers studying in the programme are encouraged to reflect on challenges in their teaching context and to carry out small-scale exploratory research.

You'll be taught by internationally-recognised researchers who draw on their extensive experience as language teachers and teacher educators to bridge the gap between research, theory, and teaching practice. The University's TESOL programme is highly regarded worldwide. It has a strong international orientation which reflects New Zealand's unique position in the Asia-Pacific region. Graduates have gone on to teach English and work in educational leadership in New Zealand and around the globe.

Entry criteria

Students who successfully complete the ULIS Postgraduate Diploma in TESOL will receive 27 credits towards the Victoria University of Wellington Master of Arts (Tesol). Applicants need to meet the University's minimum English entry requirements. For further details, please visit the Victoria University of Wellington website.
