The Graduate Diploma in Information Technology is designed to provide you with advanced IT skills ready for immediate application in the workplace.

Outline

The Graduate Diploma in Information Technology (GradDipIT) is a Level 7, one year, full-time programme with a minimum of 120 credits. It enables those who have already completed a Bachelor degree in a different field to achieve a graduate level qualification in Information Technology.

The GradDipIT programme has been designed to enable graduates from other disciplines to pursue a career in the computing industry.

In particular, the programme is designed to provide you with:

  • A sound knowledge of the Information Technology sector and environment and the effective management of IT resources.
  • The ability to analyse the needs of business and to make recommendations for IT services and systems.
  • The ability to develop and implement innovations leading to a more efficient use of resources within a dynamic environment.

  • An understanding of the regulatory and ethical frameworks of the IT sector.

Entry criteria

ACADEMIC ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must have successfully completed an undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

All applicants must demonstrate an acceptable level of English Language fluency prior to acceptance in the programme. English Language fluency can be verified by achievement of one of the following within the last two years:

• New Zealand Certificate in English Language Level 4 (Academic)
• IELTS (Academic) score of 6.0 with no band score lower than 5.5
• PTE (Academic) score of 50 with no band score lower than 42
• International equivalents to IELTS accepted by NZQA or successful study of a programme in which English was the language of instruction (conditions apply)
