Taught by sport and fitness experts in small classes, this diploma will build on your knowledge in exercise prescription, biomechanics, coaching practice and practical classes that you'll be able to apply to real-life experiences within the industry while building valuable networks.

If you're looking to further your studies after competing the diploma, you can enrol in the final year of the Bachelor of Health, Sport and Human Performance.

Upon successfully completing the requirements you'll receive the award of: New Zealand Diploma in Sport, Recreation and Exercise (Multi-sector) (Level 6)

Graduates may also be able to work with workplaces such as: Community Health Providers; Community Sport Providers; Outdoor Education Centres; Exercise Facilities; Iwi Organisations; Local Councils; Cultural Centres; Outdoor Pursuits Centres; Primary Health Organisations; Regional Sports Trusts; Recreation, Sport and Leisure Centres

Entry criteria

You must have:

  • completed the New Zealand Diploma in in Sport, Recreation and Exercise (Multi-sector)(Level 5) or educational equivalent; OR
  • demonstrated equivalent skills and knowledge.
  • Police vetting

All applicants will be required to provide a signed Police Vetting consent form. Convictions will not necessarily prevent applicants from entering the course, however the Academic Leader will review these on a case by case basis.

International applicants for whom English is not their first language will be required to show evidence of language competency, issued within the last two years with the following level of competency IELTS score of 6.0 with no band score lower than 5.5 or completed NZ Certificate in English Language Level 4 with an endorsement of either (use as applicable General, Workplace or Academic) or meets a relevant English Proficiency Outcome as outlined in NZQF related Rules
