Summary

PURPOSE

The Bachelor of Audio Production is designed for people considering a career in audio production, audio-visual or other related industries. Graduates will have the skills, knowledge and attributes to operate independently as creative contributors in the wider audio production industry. This includes the attributes necessary to contribute to a bi- and multi-cultural environment in Aotearoa New Zealand.

AIM

To equip students with early-through-advanced industry-led skills and knowledge in audio technologies and practice, including relevant historical, cultural and business practice contexts. To facilitate the development and refinement of self-reflective creative practice, underpinned by comprehensive transferable skills.

SKILLS AND OUTCOMES

  • Analyse and generate solutions to unfamiliar and complex problems and issues related to key stages of audio production
  • Apply an advanced level of generic skills in a range of production activities
  • Understanding the key production roles, processes and activities, and the ability to apply this understanding effectively to a range of creative and technical situations
  • Use a range of production equipment, techniques and technology to achieve complex and challenging creative goals
  • Plan and execute complex tasks either as an individual or part of a team
  • A capacity for critical, conceptual and reflective thinking, creativity and originality
  • Research skills and critical thinking towards specific problems and issues

Entry criteria

International students seeking admission to SAE must be at least 18 years of age at the time of application.

A copy of the student's valid passport must be provided.

Completion of the equivalent of NCEA Level 3 or University Entrance qualification.

English Language RequirementsInternational students who are not native English speakers need to provide additional evidence of language skills and complete one of the following:

- International English Language Testing System (IELTS): A band score of 6 or higher (only the Academic Test is accepted), OR

- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): A score of 550 or higher (paper based test), 60 or higher (internet based test)
