Summary

At Hawke's Bay:
Develop a sound knowledge of computer hardware, data communications and networking and cybersecurity, information systems and data analytics, IT management, software development and systems analysis and design, and understand and engage in Internet of Things technology, and elements of robotics, automation, and Artificial Intelligence and machine vision.

This degree will give you an understanding of, and the ability to develop, high quality computing solutions. You will explore the processes and practices necessary to meet the demands of a professional career in the fast-paced computing industry.

As part of your programme, you will undertake a major industry-based project or internship. This provides an opportunity for you to demonstrate your potential to employers, experiencing “real world” computing, and hone your soft-skills within a professional IT environment.

The Bachelor of Computing Systems at Tairāwhiti focuses on automation, IoT, web, databases, and analytics to meet both employment opportunities locally and internationally.

This degree will develop your critical and systems thinking skills and the core programming, hardware, information processing and soft skills required by IT professionals to deliver high quality computing solutions.

Students must have successfully completed degree standard qualifications.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

All applicants must demonstrate an acceptable level of English Language fluency prior to acceptance in the programme. English Language fluency can be verified by achievement of one of the following within the last two years:

  • New Zealand Certificate in English Language Level 4 (Academic)
  • IELTS (Academic) score of 6.0 with no band score lower than 5.5
  • PTE (Academic) score of 50 with no band score lower than 42
  • International equivalents to IELTS accepted by NZQA or successful study of a programme in which English was the language of instruction (conditions apply)
