Summary

This NZQA approved qualification covers the syllabus requirements for the CPL MEIR program along with ATPL (Human Factors, Meteorology), Basic Gas Turbine, Dangerous goods course and Winter flying ground course.

Holders of this qualification are able to work as commercial pilots of an aeroplane engaged in general aviation under the relevant Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Rules or in the associated support industries such as flight planning and aircraft operations.

On completion of this qualification, graduates may progress to the New Zealand Diploma in Aviation (Level 6) with strands in Aeroplane Flight Instruction or Aeroplane Airline Preparation.

Entry criteria

  • Be at least 18 years of age before the date of the CPL Flight examination.
  • Complete the Adapt Trainee Pilot Pre screening test
  • Hold NCEA Level 3 with at least 14 L3 credits in an English rich subject (English, History, Art, Geography, Biology, Classics, Art History, Journalism, Media Studies, Religious Studies, PE) and 14 L3 credits in maths orientated subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Calculus, Accounting, Economics) or PPL Theory subjects or equivalent
  • Hold an Aviation Class 1 Medical Certificate
  • Meet the Fit and Proper person requirement of CAANZ
  • Be competent in spoken English to meet CAANZ requirements
  • Applicants will be required to provide a land transport driving history report, a ministry of justice report and will be interviewed prior to acceptance.

Entry Criteria

To be eligible for any of our programmes you must be able to show you have the ability to complete the programme, have a clear criminal and driving offence record and be able to hold the appropriate class of medical. If you meet the above entry requirements, fill out an application form. Successful candidates will be invited for an interview and aptitude testing. If accepted into a programme with IAANZ, you will be sent an Offer of Enrolment.
