Summary

Prepare for junior roles in the fashion industry assisting with design, styling, retail/merchandising, basic garment construction or for further study in fashion. During this hands-on programme, you’ll learn about fashion industry practice, fashion design and textile concepts, and fashion production. You will leave with a portfolio of work which you can use to apply for our Bachelor of Design (with your chosen electives).

Embark on this hands-on qualification to acquire the technical skills, knowledge, and industry awareness necessary for further study in the Bachelor of Design (Fashion) or to gain entry-level roles assisting with design, styling, retail/merchandising, and basic garment construction.

The fashion world is fast-paced, exciting, and diverse, and with commitment and further study, you could consider career paths including fashion design, fashion journalism, buying, patternmaking, styling, or costume design for film/theatre/television.

Entry criteria

If English is not your first language, you must provide:

New Zealand University Entrance OR
Overall Academic IELTS 5.5 with no individual band score lower than 5.0 (achieved in one test completed in the last two years), OR

TOEFL paper based test (PBT): Score of 530 (with an essay score of 4.5 TWE); TOEFL internet based test (IBT): Score of 46 (with a writing score of 14); Cambridge english qualifications: B2 First or B2 First for schools with a score of 162. No less than 154 in each skill; Pearson test of english (ACADEMIC): PTE (Academic) score of 42 with no band score lower than 36; Language Certificate: B2 Communicator IESOL (LRW) with PASS and no less than Pass in each skill.
