This qualification will prepare you for a career in central or local government, or public and private organisations. You will be able to work in areas such as: planning, resource and environmental management, research, environmental education.

What you will learn

When you achieve this qualification you will be able to:

  • recognise and analyse the causes of environmental problems
  • apply environmental principles and legislation to practical situations involving the protection and use of natural resources
  • evaluate policy and management approaches to resolve environmental problems
  • contribute to identifying and implementing effective actions to achieve sustainable environmental outcomes.

This qualification will prepare you for a career in central or local government, public and private organisations, and working in planning, resource and environmental management, research, consultancy or environmental education.

You can study this programme part-time if you’re an international student living in New Zealand or overseas. If you’re living in New Zealand you will need to be in paid employment with a valid work permit.

Entry criteria

To enrol in this programme you need to have one of the following:

  • New Zealand University Entrance
  • Hold a New Zealand Certificate or Diploma qualification considered appropriate by the Programme Leader, or equivalent.

IELTS test – a score of 6 (Academic) with no band score lower than 5.5 or equivalent.

Cambridge English Qualifications - B2 First, or B2 First for Schools, or C1 Advanced, or C2 Proficiency with a score of 169. No less than 162 in each skill.
