Ideal for people learning English as a second language, this course will give students the key skills they need to communicate on an everyday basis and with a course structure that supports and encourages success.
IPU New Zealand’s Level 1 English Language Studies programme will help you develop your English language competence. You will participate in learner-centred communicative classrooms where each class will focus on one of the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing.
Your teachers will encourage you to produce the language in natural settings and are experienced in developing students to be successful at higher levels of study in New Zealand tertiary environments. Your programme will lead to the New Zealand Certificate in English Language at the level appropriate to your language ability.
It is vitally important for students to possess a high level of reading, listening, writing, speaking and comprehension skills if they are to succeed at any tertiary level institution.
In the English Language Studies Programme, students attend small classes according to their level of English ability. The programme provides students with the necessary tools for developing their English communication skills to the required level of entry for tertiary education. In addition to gaining academic English skills, students can also improve their conversation and comprehension skills that are crucial for enjoying everyday life in English-speaking countries.
IPU New Zealand offers the English Language Studies Programme to first year students, enabling them to achieve English language proficiency and a set of useful study skills, as well as developing their critical thinking in preparation for a tertiary level education.
