This is an advanced qualification where you will learn to engage with research and apply specialised management and leadership knowledge in business information systems. This Master's degree offers you three pathway options: Coursework, Professional Project and Coursework, or Research Thesis.

About the programme

Successful completion of this advanced programme will enable you to confidently engage with research and its application across a range of disciplines within the business information systems context.

Graduates of this qualification are critical thinkers, effective problem solvers, future-focused and apply specialised management and leadership knowledge and capabilities to new situations within the field of business information systems.

Business information systems occupations are projected to grow rapidly over the next ten years leading to an increasing need for information systems professionals. There is also an increasing demand for those professionals to hold higher level qualifications.

This Master offers you three pathway options: Coursework, Professional Project and Coursework, or Research Thesis. Within the programme, you will also have the opportunity to attend employability workshops, industry and guest speaker events.

It will prepare you for further postgraduate study or alternatively, you could seek employment in a range of roles including:

At our Auckland International Campus, this programme is offered by Future Skills Academy due to a sub-contract arrangement with Otago Polytechnic.

Entry criteria

Minimum entry requirements are:

  • A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent qualification) in a related discipline with a grade average at Level 7/8 of B- or higher, OR
  • A combination of academic qualifications and relevant skills and knowledge acquired through work or professional experience that is deemed equivalent to the above.
  • International applicants must demonstrate that they have equivalent academic qualifications and experience

If English is not your first language, you must also demonstrate English language skills equivalent to an IELTS overall band score (academic) of 6.5, with no less than 6.0 in any band.

OET: Minimum of Grade C+ or 300 in all sub tests

TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT): Score of 79 (with a writing score of 21)

Cambridge English Qualifications: C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency with a score of 176. No less than 169 in each skill;

PTE (Academic) score of 58 with no band score lower than 50

Language Certificate: C1 Expert IESOL (LRW) with HIGH PASS and no less than 25/50 in each skill or C2 Mastery IESOL (LRW) with PASS and no less than 25/50 Pass in each skill
