EXCEL School of Performing Arts
The Level 5 Diploma prepares you for higher level study and build on practical experience and skills learnt in the Level 4 Certificate programme. There is also the added bonus of two short tours to gain performance experience in different venues around Aotearoa including Schools, Theatres and Churches as well as showcase original content created individually and collaboratively in your Major courses.

Performance Music 3
Perform solo and group repertoire including original songs and develop stage techniques for performance on tour (Semester One).
MUSIC-502
Performance Music 4
Perform solo and group repertoire including rearrangements and plan and perform on a tour at a range of venues (Semester Two).
MUSIC-503
Music Technique 2
Further training with a one on one lesson to learn the techniques for voice or instrument to gain mastery in your chosen area.

Music Fundamentals 2
Extending your knowledge of music theory including key signatures, time signatures, intervals and chords.

Building on the Certificate skills to produce a broad range of original work and to learn how to set up a simple music creation workstation.

Analysing the origins and influences on popular music and using this to improve your own compositions and performances.

Applying understanding of small business practices, industry structures and operational practices to prepare for potential work in the industry.

Further understanding and development of strong character and finding out more about God, yourself and others and how it fits into living in Aotearoa, New Zealand.
Entry into our Level 5 Diploma is with the EXCEL Level 4 Certificate or NCEA Level 2 or equivalent.
If English is a second language applicants must be able to provide evidence of meeting English Language proficiency requirements. Listed under Rule 18 of NZQA Programme Approval and Accreditation Rules 2013.
Direct entry into Level 5 Diploma / Year Two is possible based on audition evidence, although Music students will need to show adequate music theory knowledge.
The minimum age for entry is 18. In the audition, we are looking for evidence of previous experience or training and that the applicant has sufficient skill and talent to cope with the demands of the course.
